Sheriff’s Employees Union Supports Rolison for Mayor

POUGHKEEPSIE – County Legislature Chairman (District 8) and City of Poughkeepsie mayoral candidate Rob Rolison today announced that the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Employees Association (DCSEA) has officially endorsed his candidacy. Rolison served the law enforcement community as a Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department Patrolman and Detective for a total of 26 years. DCSEA represents approximately 340 county employees comprised of correctional and civilian staff at the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office.

This is the third law enforcement endorsement Rolison has captured since August 14: he previously received commitments from the Dutchess County Deputy Sheriffs PBA and Town of Poughkeepsie PBA, as well as an earlier endorsement from Sheriff Adrian “Butch” Anderson.

“Rob’s extensive history in serving the people of Dutchess County as a County Legislator and a 26-year veteran in law enforcement makes him the most qualified candidate capable of addressing the needs of our community. His experience and dedication to law enforcement makes him the only candidate that can successfully collaborate efforts with local agencies to cut down on the crime in Poughkeepsie starting on day one. Knowing that Rob will do everything he can to better the City of Poughkeepsie for everyone that works and lives there has earned him full support from the members of the DCSEA,” said President Timothy DeGelormo in the union’s official endorsement letter.

On July 29 Rolison announced a joint county-city plan to provide Poughkeepsie with additional resources to combat a recent string of shootings in the Queen City. The plan includes doubling the number of patrols involving Sheriff’s Office and City of Poughkeepsie Police Department personnel in crime hot spots. A description of steps already enacted as well as future crime-prevention policies can be found here.

“The Sheriff’s Employees Association includes some of the hardest-working men and women we have in Dutchess County. Their efforts keep our jail safe and support the great work performed by the Sheriff’s Office. I am honored to receive this latest endorsement from the law enforcement community,” said Rolison.
