Legislators Meet with Chamber’s Legislative Action Committee
Share their views on current and future legislation that impact the business community.

 

Poughkeepsie, NY: Members of the Dutchess County Legislature participated in the Legislative Action Breakfast hosted by the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Chamber Foundation Board, and members of the Legislative Action and Construction Committees. The event was held on Tuesday morning at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel and Conference Center in Poughkeepsie. Legislators included the Chairman of the Legislature Rob Rolison (T/C-Poughkeepsie), Majority Leader Angela Flesland (T-Poughkeepsie), Minority Leader Barbara Jeter-Jackson (C-Poughkeepsie), Legislators Dale Borchert (LaGrange) and Micki Strawinski (Red Hook).

 

The purpose of the meeting was to provide for open dialogue and collaboration between the Legislature and entities represented by the Chamber. Among the topics discussed were the steps being taken to assist businesses in the community to develop and prosper, areas of shared services, consolidations and collaborations that the County is involved with, and actions are being applied to retain and create jobs in Dutchess County. The County Legislators expressed their focus on job creation and supporting economic development.

 

Chairman of the Dutchess County Legislature Rob Rolison stated, “We are undergoing a transformation of county government to achieve a more effective, efficient and open government to benefit our citizens and businesses alike. Open government is defined by transparency, promoting citizen participation, and collaboration in order to improve the quality of life of its residents. Today’s discussion was an exchange of knowledge on how we can best address the needs and concerns of the business community.”

North, President and CEO of the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce.
